Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 29, 2026 Last updated: June 29, 2026

Jay’s Bus Service, Inc. (“Jay’s Bus Service,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with this Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you visit jaysbusservice.com (the “Site”), apply to drive for us, sign up for service alerts, use our Lost & Found tool, or otherwise interact with us online. Please read this policy carefully. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.

Scope note: This policy covers information collected through our website and related online interactions. It does not govern student or rider information that we handle under transportation contracts with school districts, camps, or other institutions. That information is handled in accordance with our agreements with those organizations and applicable education-privacy laws (see “Children’s Privacy” below).

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide to us

We collect information you choose to give us directly, including when you:

  • Apply to drive or work for us — name, contact details, and any information you submit through an employment or driver-interest form.
  • Sign up for service alerts — your name, phone number, and/or email address so we can notify you of delays, cancellations, or schedule changes.
  • Use the Lost & Found — descriptions of lost items and the contact information you provide so we can return them.
  • Contact us — any information included in a contact form, email, or phone inquiry.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, certain information may be collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies, including:

  • IP address and approximate location;
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system;
  • Pages visited, links clicked, and time spent on the Site;
  • The website or source that referred you to us.

The use of non-essential technologies that collect this information is subject to your consent, as described in Section 3.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to your inquiries and provide the services you request;
  • Process and evaluate employment and driver applications;
  • Send service alerts and operational notifications you have signed up for;
  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Site;
  • Protect the security and integrity of the Site and prevent fraud or abuse;
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

We only use analytics and marketing information after you have consented to the relevant cookie categories.

3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site and, with your consent, to understand how it is used and to improve it.

Consent banner

When you first visit the Site, a consent banner appears at the bottom of the screen giving you the following choices:

  • Accept all — allow all cookie categories, including analytics and marketing.
  • Reject non-essential — allow only the cookies strictly necessary for the Site to function.
  • Manage preferences — choose which categories you allow on a case-by-case basis.

Non-essential scripts and cookies do not load until you provide consent. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by reopening the cookie preferences from the banner or settings link.

Categories of cookies we use

  • Strictly necessary cookies — required for the Site to function (for example, security and basic navigation). These are always active and do not require consent.
  • Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it. We use Google Analytics for this purpose. These cookies load only after you consent.
  • Marketing/other cookies — where used, these may include advertising pixels, heatmap or session-analytics tools, or chat widgets. These load only after you consent.

Security tools

We use Google reCAPTCHA to protect our forms from spam and abuse. reCAPTCHA is loaded only when you reach a page containing a form, or after you provide consent, rather than on every page load. Your use of reCAPTCHA is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Managing cookies in your browser

Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect how the Site functions.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — vendors who perform services on our behalf (such as hosting, analytics, form processing, security, and communications), under obligations to protect your information.
  • Legal and safety — when required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Jay’s Bus Service, our customers, or others.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.

5. Third-Party Services

The Site relies on certain third-party services, including:

  • Google Analytics — for website analytics. You can learn more and opt out using Google’s Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Google reCAPTCHA — for form security and spam prevention.

These providers may process information in accordance with their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Lost & Found items and related contact information are retained for approximately one month, after which unclaimed items are donated, consistent with our Lost & Found practice.

7. Data Security

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we collect. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Site is intended for adults — including parents, school and camp administrators, and prospective employees — and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Site. If you believe a child has provided us information through the Site, please contact us so we can delete it.

Personal information about the students and minors we transport is provided to us by, and handled under our agreements with, the schools, districts, camps, and organizations we serve, and in accordance with applicable laws governing student information. That information is not collected through this Site.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:

  • Know or access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Request correction or deletion of your personal information;
  • Opt out of certain processing, including targeted advertising or any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (we do not sell personal information);
  • Withdraw consent to non-essential cookies at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information in Section 12. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

California residents

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), gives you the rights described above, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising without your consent. You may exercise these rights by contacting us using the information below, and you may designate an authorized agent to act on your behalf.

California’s “Shine the Light” law also permits California residents to request information about disclosures of personal information to third parties for direct marketing purposes. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing.

Other states

Residents of other states with comprehensive privacy laws — including New Jersey — may have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and opt out of certain processing. You may exercise these rights by contacting us as described below.

10. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal or a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. Where required by law, we honor recognized opt-out preference signals such as GPC as a valid request to opt out for the browser or device from which the signal is sent.

11. Links to Other Sites

The Site may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.
